Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), was founded in 1963, is the largest and the oldest institution representing Pakistani nationals living in the UAE. Riphah International University, Pakistan through its RAK College of Dental Sciences (RAKCODS) UAE has been instrumental in supporting Pakistan Association Dubie (PAD) for all its causes poised towards supporting Pakistanis. These include social services like:
- Release of Prisoners who are there for fines
- Paying students Fee who are unable to pay, belonging to lower income groups.
- Provision of Free Medical Treatment for the needy
- Helping the widows and families
- Provision of air tickets to the needy families for their travel back
- Medical support and awareness camps at various labor camps
- Food distribution in Ramadan for the needy.
Recently, PAD has established an auditorium and now a new Free Medical and Dental Centre is being constructed. Riphah International University has provided a large collection of Urdu Books to the Auditorium Library, making it the largest Urdu collection in the UAE.
PAD is now launching Pakistan Center, with community halls, theme restaurant and a state-of-the-art medical center. The construction cost of the Pakistan Centre will be Dh12 million which will take shape with the help of community members and would be completed in 18 months. The Dental Center in this Center is sponsored by Riphah International University, with Dental chairs, material, equipment and staff.
This center would be one of the first few social centers that would be accredited by Joint Commission International JCI- the gold standard of quality. All the consultation for JCI journey is sponsored by RAKCODS.
The Independence Day of Pakistan, 14th August was marked to celebrate the country’s 70th Independence Day and organized by the Pakistan Embassy at the association in Dubai and, was celebrated at the association under Pakistan Embassy UAE. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Youth, Culture and Social Development in the presence of Pakistani dignitaries has laid the foundation stone for Pakistan Centre – the first of its kind, not-for-profit medical center in GCC which will be open to all nationalities – at Pakistan Association Dubai on the independence day, night.
The event was attended by high-profile figures from Dubai government, Moazzam Ahmed Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, Syed Javed Hassan, Consul General, Dr Omar Al Muthanna, CEO of Community Development Authority, Saleh Al Mazmi, Head of Licensing CDA, Suhail Al Zarooni, Chairman of the Zarooni Foundation, a number of Pakistani businessmen and prominent community members from all over the UAE. The Chancellor of Riphah International University Mr. Hassan Mohammad Khan was the guest of honor at the event.
Sheikh Nahyan in his address said, “The association’s attention to the medical needs of the Pakistani community strikes me as being especially commendable. Today’s groundbreaking for the Pakistan Centre is a fitting tribute to the ideals of Pakistan on this seventieth anniversary of independence.”
Moazzam Ahmed Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, expressed deep gratitude at His Excellency’s gracing the event. He said, “On our seventieth anniversary we reaffirm our commitment to peace, security, stability and continued prosperity to the UAE and to the Pakistan-UAE Friendship.”
Fifteen members of the Pakistani community were given awards by the Chief Guest for their exceptional service in the field of education, health, social development, business and banking, philanthropy amongst others
A photographic exhibition highlighting the decades-old friendship between Pakistan and UAE was also displayed which was highly appreciated by the visitors.
