Dr. Mehar Ali Shah (RPC Run Coordinator at CMS CERN, Switzerland) was invited to give a talk on ‘Exploring the unexplored prestigious opportunities for Pakistani at CERN’. The seminar was arranged on Sunday (March 26th) at Quaid-e-Azam Campus of Riphah International University in Lahore under RICAS. The Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire (The European Organization for Nuclear Research) or CERN is one of the main research Centers in Scientific fields for which Pakistan is associate member since 2015.
Dr. Mehar talked about the different experiments being conducted in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). He talked about the history and marvelous discoveries at CERN in particular the famous Higgs-Boson discovery. There are many opportunities for students, Masters, PhD, post docs and professional level in the fields of natural sciences (Physics, Maths), Computer science (IT, Computation), Business Administration, Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Environmental safety, Mechanical, Material and Surface engineering) for Pakistani Passport holders. Dr. Mehar discussed in detail all available professional categories for Pakistani students, scientists, and Faculty members and how they can avail these opportunities at CERN. In the end, he presented the technical writing skills. Earlier Dr. Faqir M Bhatti, Director of RICAS introduced the guest speaker. All the faculty members and more then 150 students attended the seminar.
